Serve in warm flour tortillas with your favorite toppings for a quick, healthy dinner everyone will enjoy. Key Ingredients

  • Chicken – boneless, skinless chicken breasts are recommended, though tenderloins or thighs work well. Cut into 1″ strips; plan on about 1/4 lb per person.
  • Bell Peppers – use a mix of red, orange, yellow and/or green for color and flavor.
  • Onion – white, yellow, or red onion, sliced into strips.
  • Seasoning – fajita or taco seasoning works great. Adjust spices to taste.
  • Chili Powder – adds mild heat; increase or decrease to suit your preference.
  • Tortillas – small flour tortillas are traditional, but corn or lettuce wraps are alternatives.
  • Toppings – sour cream, shredded cheese, salsa, shredded lettuce, and fresh cilantro are all excellent choices.

How to Make Chicken Fajitas in the Oven

  1. Season the chicken. Place sliced chicken in a bowl and toss with oil, garlic, and the seasonings so each piece is evenly coated.
  2. Arrange on a sheet pan. Lightly spray a baking sheet and spread the chicken, peppers, and onions in a single layer for even roasting.
  3. Bake. Roast at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and vegetables have begun to brown at the edges.
  4. Serve. Warm the tortillas and assemble fajitas with your preferred toppings. Enjoy immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much chicken should I plan per person?

If meat is the main component, plan about 1/3 pound (around 150 g) of chicken per person. For fajitas served in tortillas with toppings, 1/4 pound (about 115 g) per person is usually sufficient. If you’re serving very hungry eaters, increase to 1/3 pound. Leftovers reheat well, so making a little extra can be convenient.
