In Episode 3, Lori sits down with Alex Jackson Berkley, the eldest daughter of Frieda’s Specialty Produce CEO Karen Caplan and granddaughter of founder Dr. Frieda Rapoport Caplan. Alex joined Frieda’s in 2011 after graduating from George Mason University, continuing a three‑generation family business legacy. The conversation explores the company’s history, mission, and the passion that drives their work bringing unique produce to consumers.

Alex began her career at Frieda’s in marketing and transitioned to sales in 2014 as an account manager. That year she became the youngest produce professional accepted into the United Fresh Leadership Program class. Alex also earned a Produce Executive Development certificate from Cornell University’s Food Industry Management Program, reflecting her commitment to professional growth within the industry.

Recognized for her leadership, Alex was named one of Produce Business Magazine’s “40 Under 40” in 2017. She has contributed to the industry through the Produce Marketing Association’s Women’s Fresh Perspectives Advisory Committee, serving as co‑chair from 2015 to 2017. Outside the produce world, Alex supports education as a member of the Board of Trustees at The Westerly School in Long Beach, California.
