Coffee Talk 12: a chance to catch up on the little things in life—both sweet and salty! April 2019

Good morning! (Or good afternoon, good evening.) Happy Earth Day and a belated Happy Easter! I’m looking at a calendar, so it feels like every holiday deserves a hello. How was your Easter? How is your Earth Day going?

Welcome to this month’s Coffee Talk — a relaxed check-in where we catch up, chat about small joys, and share what’s been happening. I love hearing from you, so please leave a comment. Grab a seat and your favorite tea or coffee, and let’s chat.

My sister visited — My sister Monica and her husband Kevin were in Boston for work and made time to visit. They spent time with our mom (Grams), Jenny and her two kids, and Erik and me. It was wonderful to see her. When we were younger we visited monthly, but now that we live almost 1,000 miles apart, those visits are rarer.

We caught up on life, retirement plans (I’m definitely on board with planning ahead), work, and memories from our younger days. Back in college and grad school we spent weekends visiting Disneyland and shopping across Southern California. Those days make me nostalgic, but I’m grateful to see her settled and happy.

Our 10 year anniversary — Erik and I celebrated ten years together. It still feels surreal to write that. I remember meeting him in our early twenties: he was finishing college and holding a full-time job at an online games company while taking classes at SF State. I was finishing schooling at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising after graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Political Science.

We were both figuring things out and hungry for adventure. Over the years we’ve faced tough times, traveled together, made memories, and grown up a bit. We even started this blog together. It’s hard to believe Beaming Baker has been around for over three years — time really does fly.

Here’s to Erik, to the ride we’re on, and to sharing people, experiences, recipes, and good times with you.
